I don't make resolutions, but I do set goals. 2009 has me striving to live a healthier lifestyle, which is backed up by my goals to exercise every day and cook & eat in a more meaningful, healthful way. I also want to explore new opportunities that come my way, which is why I have set a goal to say yes to at least three things a week that I would ordinarily say no to...for example, instead of turning down an invite to lunch with a friend because I feel lazy that day, I'll suck it up and go. I have a few more goals I've set for myself, and plan to work hard to make 2009 a fantastic year.
I've also set some knitting goals. My main goal is to knit from the stash. I'm not placing any kind of restriction on yarn buying, however, with my recent loss of income, there will be no yarn purchases unless they are a gift, needed to finish a project, etc. No more random sock yarn sprees. I want to do a better job of using what I have and reducing my overall consumption in every area of my life, and knitting is no exception!
This year, I want to knit myself 5 sweaters, use up at least a quarter of my sock yarn stash, attempt colorwork, and knit more cables. I've got lots of things queued on Ravelry, and have enough yarn to knit 6 or 7 sweaters for myself, so I'm off to a good start. I've put together a lovely Flickr collage that showcases many of the items I want to knit in 2009, and I'm very inspired by all of the talented knitters who created these lovely knits.
Like I said in my last post, I'm ready for anything in 2009, and hope to have a year filled with possibilities and joy. New Year's isn't my favorite holiday, or one that I typically celebrate at all, but this year I'm looking forward to expanding my horizons. I wish you all a safe New Year's Eve and a very happy 2009!
