B and I have talked several times about getting another dog so Sampson can have a buddy now that Cricket is officially not living here anymore, but we always end up talking ourselves out of getting another dog since we frequently have Cricket over for extended stays while my sister is out of town.
The "should we adopt another pup" debate arises every few months, and gets shot down each time, usually by B introducing something called "common sense" and/or "logic" into the conversation. Imagine my surprise when he came home from a clients house with some crazy idea about getting one of these. After my pointing out that one of those grows into one of these, we talked about it some more and decided that, size-wise, maybe that isn't a good match for us.
His sudden interest in a puppy led me to think about adopting a dog again. I did a little half-hearted browsing this afternoon, and then it happened. I fell in love. Head over heels, no going back. A tiny little Australian Cattle Dog mix. (Anyone remember this?) Oh my goodness. I called him, we talked about it, he did some thinking, and now...now he wants to meet her. I've sent an email to the foster mom, and hope to hear back soon. We'll see what happens.
I'm trying not to get too far ahead of myself since nothing is concrete and her adoption fee is a bit pricey, however, I've already come up with three top contenders for her new name (um, because her name is my name too), am figuring out what we'd do when Cricket came to visit/stay, and where we'd board Sam and the new girl when B and I travel. I'll be sure to provide details and updates as this situation plays out.
I know I said I'd post about knitting, and I will, just not now...it's all sooper sekrit holiday knitting, and I was recently alerted to the fact someone who's gift I THOUGHT was safe to show knows about this blog. Soon, though. Knitting post soon. For now, check out the sweet deal I found on our roadtrip while shopping with Carrie.

Cute!!! Both puppy and owl. My sister has a dog (chow-blue heeler mix) that has serious nervous issues and is a wreck when she is by herself. She has destroyed many items of clothing, shoes, door frames... even crates, when she is crated. (In fact she ate so much of a plastic-bottomed crate she had to have surgery to remove the plastic from her stomach). (Not that I'm suggesting Sampson is anything like Sophie, I'm just sayin'.) Anyway, she was a terror when left alone, except that when she (my sister) lived with roommates (who also had dogs) she (Sophie) was completely fine, even when no people were around, just puppies.
My sister & her boyfriend thought for a long time about getting a new dog, the trouble with puppies, the expense (they don't have tons of cash to throw around), what to do with them when they were away... etc. etc. They finally adopted a cute little puppy (some mix, don't know what kind) about 8 months ago. It was a little rough at first but now the doggies keep each other company and Sophie isn't a nut case any more.
Two can definitely be better than one. :)

Aww! And 20 lbs is the prefect doggie size, I think :) We're about to get into fostering and we've limited the size to under 25lbs. Good Luck with it!

She is too cute!! I've also been bitten by the puppy bug, but the husband is firm on his no. (But that doesn't prevent me from checking the Democrat online for the adoptables!!) ;) Good luck! I hope you get her!!
