I love my neti pot and am trying to convince my son to embrace it. I am not sold on the ear candles. We use 90% isopropyl alcohol to dry out ears.

I will second (third?) the Neti pot recommendation. If I get any kind of head cold it can develop into the worst chest infection that lasts weeks or months, because I can get awful post nasal drip in conjunction with the cold. A _doctor_ recommended it to me when "traditional" medicines were not doing a damn thing to dry out my sinuses (which meant the chest infection lingered and lingered). It helps me with the sinus issues, definitely. It is a bit weird at first, but SO worth it.

I agree! The Neti pot is so wonderful. Simply Saline also works, but as you said, doesn't get everything thoroughly cleaned out. My daughter calls it mom's teapot. Fine, but just don't drink tea out of it! I keep it at the ready during the winter b/c climate controlled environments just dry. me. out.

I haven't tried ear candling, but whatever works! I don't have many ear problems, but I think Western medicine definitely falls short in many areas. They like to treat most problems with a sledgehammer instead of a fillet knife.

I've been thinking about getting a neti pot. People at work swear by it. I sometimes shoot saline into my nose from the pre-loaded syringes we have at work. That helps but the neti pot is supposed to be better. What tea do you drink?

Have you ever heard of NAET? You should look into it. It seriously changed every single member of my family's life. Seriously! Email me if you want me to tell you about it.

Mary

I've had my eye on a neti pot for a while now but it's the getting it before the shelf empties that I have a problem with...it's worse than trying to buy wollemise or something!

I've never done the ear candle thing but I am a whiz with the newspaper cone of death...it is magic...especially the "whoosh" when the damp/air gets sucked out of your ear...yeah, I know I'm a freak...

Carrie

Jacob is a total ear-candler. He swears by it.

Robyn

I have been using a Neti pot for just over a year now and I agree that it is absolutely wonderful.

Stacey

Ok, ok...I think I am going to have to try it now. Well, as soon as I have sinus problems again.

Uhmmm..and do me a favor and reply to this comment via email, cause I have something funny to tell you....
