The latest:
The lake I live on was EMPTY as of Friday. Now? It's overflowing, which has resulted in the roads in and out of the neighborhood being washed out. The sheriff was at my door about an hour ago telling me I could walk out if I was careful, but that as of now, no vehicles can get in/out.
B had to stay at his moms last night as the road that leads to our neighborhood was unsafe. He's now trying to find a way to get home, although I told him not to hold his breath.
I went outside to look at the lake, without my glasses on, and almost stepped on a giant snake that had been washed up into the yard from the flooding. I promptly went back inside the house.
Other than the flooding, and the fact that, yeah, it just started to rain again, all is well here. Sampson and I are safe and dry, and B is safe at his moms house. I've got a bit of cabin fever, and have been compulsively twitting this entire thing, so for the latest updates, check out that Twitter side bar over to the left.
Latest update: B made it back home via a series of ferry rides from neighbors. We walked down to where the road is washed out, I didn't understand the concept of "washed out." I thought they just meant water on the road.

I'm glad you are all safe and sound. Just stay that way, OK?

What craziness! I've been so obsessed with the olympics that I had no idea Florida was flooding over. Please stay inside because snakes and alligators scare me, and they bite.

Wow! You got a crap ton of rain! The husband and I went driving around yesterday during one of the non-rainy spells and all the lakes that were practically dry are flooding onto the roads (but we didn't see any washed out roads).
Question - Does B work for the city? Just curious coz the husband was out in the rain from 4 pm till 4 am Saturday night "on call" for the city.

Wow, I'll bet the rain last night didn't help. We're thinking of building an ark!
