Surprisingly, we still have power. B is on call, and has been in and out of this deluge since 3am. He just got home, and hopefully, no calls will come in for the rest of the day. Total wishful thinking, but hey, I can hope, right?
I can't get a hold of Nina, but I'm sure she's fine, I think the power is probably out at her place though, based on all the reports I'm reading about that area.
Sam and I have hunkered down, him to nap at my feet, me to knit and watch movies while we still have power.

Duckies, looking super not cute as they are lace and not blocked.
I've got a stack of books, lots of candles and hurricane lamps, and a comfy spot in bed for when the power does go out...at this point, we're thinking it's no longer an "if" but a "when" based on the latest forecast and the fact our neighborhood is flooded. Flooded=saturated ground=trees coming down. We're safe, we'll be fine, and this all could be much, much worse.

STOP THE RAIN! I hope the power stays on...

I hope everything stays dry. I can't believe how long this storm has lasted!

Watch your Gustav back. My mama said "shutter up and deal" (she's between West Palm and Miami)- I'm not sure if she thought of that all by herself though.
Did I already say that it was watching Key Largo last week that I finally learned why those goofy looking oil lamps are called hurricane lamps?
