    This just in.....

    I'm not crazy.

    Monday Loves

First, a message: If y'all have been trying to get a hold of me via email or phone, or interstellar telegram or whatever, I'm not ignoring you. I'm super busy at work, away from home, and have been very upset/not wanting to talk to anyone due to an emergency room visit with B on Saturday. Things are ok for now, he's got to have some more tests this week, and hopefully this will all prove to be nothing and we wont have to deal with anything super scary. I'm kind of in avoidance mode right now....

I wasn't planning on posting today, but I need a bit of a cheery distraction, so here are my Monday Loves, brought to you by denial.

First up: NERD ALERT-Battlestar Galactica season finale last night. Holy shit. As an unrepentant spoiler whore, I knew what was coming, but it still kinda blew my mind. I have so many questions. Did Apollo really see Starbuck, or was it a hallucination? Whats up with Roslin and the Cylons having the same dream? Is Bob Dylan a cylon? I cannot believe there will be no more BSG until 2008. So sad. I may have Jamie Bamber withdrawal.

I somehow came across this site, which makes me squeal with delight. It's a strictly look-only type deal because most of the stuff here is more than I spend on groceries in a month, but still...window shopping can be fun, right?

New short hair=cannot wear a ponytail. This is mildly annoying while, say, cooking. Or, you know, cleaning the toilet. Or mucking out horse stalls which is part of my housesitting gig. These are my saviors. (And yes, at some point in the near future, I will post a pic of the hair. Promise.)

Earl Grey Green Tea.  Purists out there may consider it sacrilege, but it is GOOOOOOOOOD.

Etsy makes me want to spend the rent on cute stuff. Must resist.

I really, really want some Cider Moon yarn in June Carter and Johnny Cash. Swoooooooooooon.

I'm off to be productive now. Oh, knitting mojo has been FOUND. Knitting related blog entries coming soon. Really. I'm serious.

    Send a search party

Once again, my knitting mojo has gone missing.

Too much baby/commissioned knitting+miserable allergies to pine/oak pollen=desire to do ANYTHING but knit.

I'm hoping a 10 day sojourn at one of my favorite places will help me get knitty again. I'll miss the familiarity of home, but it will be a nice quasi-vacation and change of pace for me.

If you find my knitting mojo, would you mind sending it back my way?

    Monday Loves

Do you stalk Brooklyn Tweed like I do? This post is a great resource if you're designing a sweater.

Taking icky plastic canvas to a new, cool, level.

These musical selections have been in heavy rotation for the past few days.  I've also got a serious girl crush on Amy Winehouse's big voice right now.

Our current weather conditions are best described by my sisters astute statement: "It's yellow out." I'm a sneezy, itchy, watery mess, and nothing over the counter works on my allergies anymore. Fortunately, someone at work turned me onto a life saver.

I'm cray about etsy, and my current objects of lust are pendants/pieces of jewelry from these sellers.

Have y'all seen Aija's stitchmarkers? I ordered some as a gift, and holy smokes....good stuff. Not to mention super fast shipping and great customer service.

With our upcoming move (yes, it is officially official...end of April) I'm drooling over all kinds of yummy house stuff .

    ETA: OH. MY. GOD. Swooooooon.

That is all I have for today, off to blow my nose for the 238753495893th time and get some work done at the office. Have a fantastic Monday!

    Mitten Accomplished

I finally finished those Paton's SWS mittens I was making to match the scarf my friend commissioned. See?

    Mittens

I've got baby kimonos coming out my ears for the same friend, who became a grandmother last week. I'll get back to my Monkey socks one of these days.

I'm a little embarrassed to post this pic, but I'm sharing it with all so you can understand why we often refer to the table on "my side" of the couch as a disaster area. Check out the carnage as of about an hour ago.

    Carnage

Yowza. That was from one movie and three charity blanket squares.

I DID chop my hair off, but do not have a picture I'm willing to share without heavily photoshopping my face/removing my face from the pic, so for now, you get to see the nub. The nub is what my hairstylist friend said she'd leave behind when I told her "I don't care what you do with it, just cut it all off and make it so I cannot wear it in a ponytail on a daily basis, because if you don't I'll just wear it up all the time." The nub is allowed in special situations, such as scrubbing the shower, going to sleep, and cooking over an open flame. I'm forcing myself to wear my hair down the rest of the time. It's quite an adjustment. I love it though.

    Nub

The other big news this weekend is that Nina and Cricket officially moved yesterday. I miss them already. People have said "She's only two hours away" and "Don't y'all fight a lot?" (We don't fight so much anymore, that pretty much ended when we stopped living together) I guess some people think I shouldn't miss her or something. BUT I DO. We don't need to talk about the boo hooing I've been doing. Lets look at Cricket laying on the stairs instead.

    Snarlsbarkley

Yeah. She's a toughie. She sleeps like that. Weirdo.

    Yarnival

I was going to go with a theme edition of Yarnival. You know, Spring Break, or maybe St. Patty's Day. Lent, anyone? Yeah. I didn't think so. I was a little light on entries, probably due in part to February being such a short month. My theme idea ran out of steam as the entries rolled in, and I decided to play it straight. So, without further ado, I present the March 15th 2007 edition of Yarnival! Enjoy!

    We've All Got Stories...

Get gussied up and head on over to the Mystery House where Miss T shows us why yarn is just like lipstick.

Kate shares her stages of grief, er, I mean, writing a dissertation, as well as the kinds of knitting that accompany each stage.

A DPN stages an intervention. Karen swears she's not an addict. I'll believe her for now, but all bets are off if she shaves her head.

Stop and Smell the Roses Yarn

Nowadays most of us are involved with fiber arts out of love, not necessity, but it is important to remember our history. We've come a long way, baby.

We all know the rush we get when we finish something. The thrill we feel when we cast off that last stitch, sew up those seams, and slip into something hand knit. In your hurry to have a finished object, do you ever lose sight of the process? One blogger reminds us to enjoy the journey, not just the destination.

Thanks for stopping by and checking out the latest Yarnival. Be sure and submit an entry for the next issue, being hosted by mega(k)nits. The more entries submitted, the beefier the Yarnival.

    Just stopping by...

    ...for a quick hello.

Yarnival is almost done and will be up sometime tomorrow.

I'm wearing my hair down today in honor of the Great Chop Off of Aught Seven, scheduled for 530pm tonight.

    Today is an awesome day.

Today is my sisters last day at her job, the one she's been at for the past 3 years. She's almost all packed and ready to go. This time next week, she'll already have been gone for three days. I think it's finally hitting me that she won't be just around the corner anymore. I may even be a little teary eyed at the moment. I may have burst into tears last night about this. I may be avoiding hanging out with her because I don't want to rain on her parade with my newfound unhappiness about her moving away, thereby taking away my local connection to "home" and my family. I may be a big blubbering freakazoid of a cry baby right now. Mmmm hmmm. May, my ass. I am all of the above. Nina, if you're reading, I love you very much, and am so proud of you. I'll miss having you here more than you can imagine.

I leave you to ponder this:

Pretend you are a radio station.

Immediately after airing an obnoxious, generic, echo-y radio announcement declaring you are the "home of new rock" like 5 times, should you play a 14 year old Janes Addiction song?

    Monday Loves

Instead of complaining about how I'm still suffering a bit from the Never Ending Hangover, or bitching about the moronic time change (wait, I guess I just did...) let's talk about some good stuff.

First off: I am so damn excited about this news.

Fun tutorials ahead....can't I just leave work and go home to craft??

    Must make pincushions soon.

    So cute. Even cuter.

Have I ever mentioned how much I love aprons, and the hours I spend here?

    These have got me salivating.

Hey, a girl can dream, right? So hot.

I must say, I'm falling back in love with BSG after our little tiff last week. Last nights episode was amazing. Starbuck-less, but still, amazing. And all y'all who read this that are fans, did you laugh as hard as I did at the birthday card? You know what I'm talking about, right? Hilarious.

    Want it.

Sourdough toast with butter sustained me yesterday. It was sooooo gooooood. I want some right now.

Hope you enjoy some of those links up there and that your Monday flies by. I'll be MIA for the next few days working on Yarnival, and you know, life and stuff.

Note to self: don't take Prince song lyrics literally

Last night I partied like it was 1999. Which, since it's NOT 1999, and I'm NOT 19 anymore, was a Bad Idea. The pint of Bacardi Limon I downed over the course of an hour on an almost empty stomach was awesome at the time, but I really, really, really hate myself right now. I've once again been reminded why I don't drink like that anymore....The Hangover. Ugh. Can we just fast forward to tomorrow when I won't feel like this? Anyone have any hangover remedies that work?

The upside is, B is home! The self-punishing rum and diet coke fest took place while watching one of his bands play last night. Lots of fun. Until, you know, this morning. This is the band he plays drums for, and last night was his last show as their drummer. Long story. Anyway, he decided that since all the other dudes in the band would be wearing the standard band guy uniform of a black t-shirt with some metal band logo on it, he'd change things up a bit. This is what he wore.

    Dscn3475

    I love that guy.

There has been knitting! I finished a scarf one of my friends/coworkers commissioned after seeing the one I made my boss for Christmas. It's a multi-directional scarf in Patons SWS, and she's thrilled with the way it turned out.

    Dscn3444

I made her matching mittens as she requested, but am still tweaking them a bit, I'm not happy with the length just yet.

    Dscn3495

Then, there are my Monkey socks. You know me, never saw a bandwagon I could resist. Here's sock #1.

    Dscn3496

Just started sock #2 the other night, and it's being temporarily put on hold due to some knitting I am doing for the bumper crop of babies getting ready to make their appearances this spring. Which means, KIMONO TIME!!

    Dscn3493

So many little kimonos. So much fun knitting.

I'm going to go have a lie down now. With a big glass of water and some ibuprofen.

Anyone in the mood for a quickie?

Post, that is. Quickie POST, you perverts. Geez.

    1. Man is out of town for work til tomorrow. The house has stayed clean since he left Wednesday. Coincidence? I THINK NOT.

    2. Chopping all my hair off soon, either today or tomorrow. I wear it up all the time anyway, so I think I'm ready to go short. I say that now, but we'll see what happens when I am in the chair.

    3. Moving is a 99.99999% GO. (For those of you who are like, "wait, whaaaaaa?" looks like we will be moving into Nina's place once she moves out, in about a month or so.) It's not as cheap as we thought it was going to be, but it's still less than we pay now, plus utilities are county and not city which makes them cheaper. With all the other awesome benefits, we can't say no. So, unless everything falls through for some reason, we're moving. Thinking about it makes me excited, but kinda sad to leave my "home" I've had for the past few years. Also? It makes me itch. I've moved so many times in my short life that it just skeeves me out and I literally FOR REAL break out into hives when I start packing. Ick.

    4. Cricket is at the house with Sampson and I while Nina is in Jacksonville for some interviews.  I'm glad I've got the chance to spend some time with Cricket because damn, I am going to miss that hyper little doggie.

    5. I'm still bitter about Battlestar. Dude. SO BITTER.

    6. I finished knitting something and will show you pics tomorrow. Swear.
